My longest trip on a Savage was approximately 2500 miles in two weeks. Longest day was about 600 miles through desert. Not a fun day.
Small windshield is nice to have. If you wear glasses, get a pair of perscription goggles, they're wonderful! A thousand times better than trying to wear goggles over glasses. If you wear contacts, wear goggles and carry lots of eye drops, you'll need them. Perscription goggles and no contacts are better.
Hot weather touring: Take lots of water.
Cold weather touring: Take lots of hot coffee.
Most important suggestion for touring......
